How to play
- The full 52-card pack, 13 cards each. Highest first: ace, king, queen, jack, then ten down to two. There is no trump, and play goes anticlockwise.
- After the deal each player passes three cards face down: in the first hand to the player on their left, in the next to the player on their right, and so on in turn.
- Doubling: after the pass, a player holding the Q♠ or the 10♦ may reveal it, and it then counts double for whoever takes it. If both are revealed, each heart counts 2.
- Minus: in the same turn you may call that you will take no trick this hand.
- The player on the dealer's right leads any card. Follow the suit led while you can, otherwise play anything. The highest card of the suit led takes the trick, and its winner leads next.
Scoring and winning
- Points for what you take: the Q♠ 13, the 10♦ 10, each heart 1, doubled as revealed: a revealed Q♠ is 26, a revealed 10♦ 20.
- Taking no trick takes 10 off your total, and a minus made takes 20 off.
- A player who called minus and then took penalty cards has them doubled once more.
- The game ends after a hand in which a player reached 151 or more, and the lowest total wins. A tie for lowest plays another hand.
