How to play
- Play solo with two to five players, each for themselves, or as a partnership of four in two teams, partners opposite. You choose this in the game's options. It uses two full packs and two jokers, and play goes anticlockwise.
- Everyone gets fourteen cards; the player on the dealer's right gets fifteen and starts without drawing.
- On your turn, draw from the stock, or take the last discard if you put down at least one new meld that same turn, with or without the card you took. Then put down what you like, and end by discarding a card.
- A meld is three or more cards in sequence in one suit, or of one rank in different suits (four at most). In a sequence the ace goes below the two or above the king, never wrapping round. A meld may hold one joker.
- Your first time down must add up to at least 51: numbers at face value, jack, queen and king 10, ace 11 (1 at the start of a sequence), and a joker as the card it stands for. Going out with every card in one turn needs no minimum. Your first time down must include at least one sequence.
- Once down, you may lay off cards on any meld on the table, and take a joker by putting in the card it stands for.
Scoring and winning
- Whoever plays their last card ends the round and takes 30 off their total. Putting every card down in one turn, never down before and without laying off on others' melds, is a Hand: 60 off, and everyone else's points double.
- The others count the cards left in hand: joker 15, ace 11, jack, queen and king 10, the rest at face value. A player who never went down pays 100. In a partnership the partners' points add up, and the finisher's partner pays nothing.
- The Konkan, in the last round only: a player not yet down may declare it on their turn before drawing, and may then go down only with the whole Konkan: a run of ten and a set of four, or a run of eleven and a set of three. A Konkan wins the whole game, whatever the totals. A Konkan put down all at once in an earlier round, without declaring, ends that round like a Hand, and every opponent pays 200, even one already down.
- If the stock runs out before anyone goes out, the round is void and dealt again.
- After five rounds the lowest total wins, or the lower team in a partnership.
