How to play
- Each player has a full 52-card pack: a 13-card reserve with only the top card showing, a face-down stock of 35, and a fire for turned cards they do not play. In the middle are eight shared houses, four dealt from each pack.
- The player whose top reserve card is higher starts; the king is highest and the ace lowest.
- Eight foundations sit in the middle: each starts with an ace and builds up in the same suit to the king. Nothing comes back off them.
- Houses build down in alternating colours, such as a red 9 on a black 10. Only the outer card moves, and any card fills an empty house. You may also put a card on the top of your opponent's reserve or fire when it is the same suit and one higher or one lower.
- You play from your reserve top, your turned card and the outer card of any house. Then turn a card from your stock; if you do not play it, put it on your fire, which ends your turn. When the stock runs out, the fire is turned over to make a new one.
- Priority rules: a reserve card that can go to a foundation goes there before anything else, any card that can go to a foundation goes before any other move, and an empty house is filled from the reserve before a stock card is turned.
- Tanj: if you see your opponent break a priority rule, tap Tanj! before their next move or yours. Their move is undone and the turn passes to you. A call when there was no break costs nothing, and your opponent can stop you the same way.
Winning and the end of the game
- The first player to have no cards left in reserve, stock, fire or turned card wins. Cards your opponent puts on your reserve or fire become yours.
- If play goes on too long with no card reaching a foundation, the game ends and fewer cards left wins; equal is a draw.
