How to play
- The deck is 36 cards: six to ace in spades and clubs, seven to ace in hearts and diamonds, with both jokers. Nine cards each, and play goes anticlockwise.
- Bidding starts at the dealer's right, one turn each. Bid how many tricks your team will take, from five (Bab) to nine (Bawn), higher than the last bid, or pass.
- If all the others pass, the dealer must bid, and a bid of five is then called Malzum.
- The highest bidder names trump and leads.
- The red joker is the top card, then the ace of trump, then the black joker, then the rest of trump from the king down.
- Follow the suit led if you can; a joker may be played at any time. If you cannot follow, play anything: you never have to trump.
- A joker may be led only once the ace, king, queen and jack of trump are out, unless your team bid Bawn (either joker) or eight (the red joker).
Scoring and winning
- A made bid scores its number for the bidding team, and Bawn scores 36.
- A missed bid gives the other team double, or 5 for a missed Malzum.
- A hand ends as soon as it is decided, without playing out the rest.
- A team wins by reaching 101, by reaching 51 while the other team has none, or by making Bawn in the first hand.
