How to play
- Four players, partners sitting opposite, 13 cards each, ace high.
- A bid is a level and a suit: levels 1 to 7 mean 7 to 13 tricks, and 7 is kaboot. Suits from lowest to highest: clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades, then no-trump.
- Each new bid must be higher: more tricks, or the same number in a higher suit. Passing does not drop you out, so you may bid on a later turn; bidding ends after a full round with no new bid. If everyone passes, the cards are dealt again.
- An opponent of the highest bid may double it once: the bidding team's result, win or loss, counts twice.
- A player holding 9 or more cards of one suit may not bid, but may pass and double.
- The final bid's suit is trump; in no-trump the highest card of the suit led wins. The bidder leads, and you must follow suit if you can.
Scoring and winning
- If the bidders make their bid they score the tricks they took and the opponents score nothing. If they fail, they lose their bid and the opponents score their tricks, or 16 if they took all 13.
- All 13 tricks without bidding 13 are worth 16; bidding 13 and making it is worth 26; bidding 13 and failing loses 16.
- The first team to 31, or 41 if you choose it, wins.
