How to play
- Each player starts with all fifteen checkers on their first point, and the two players move in opposite directions.
- Each player throws one die to start; the higher starts with a fresh throw of both dice. Doubles are played four times.
- Both dice must be used when possible; if only one can be, it must be the larger. One checker may take both dice when the point in between is open. With no move at all, the turn passes.
- Any opposing checker, even a single one, closes its point to you: nothing is hit and nothing is pinned.
- No second checker may leave the starting point until one of yours has reached your home quarter.
- A player who holds all six points of their own starting quarter wins the game, since the opponent can never bring a checker home.
- You may bear off only once all your checkers are in your home quarter.
Winning and scoring
- The winner of a game scores one point for every checker the loser has not borne off.
- The first to 31 points wins the match.
